There are three main ways to treat this condition:

Porcelain Crowns

One advantage of porcelain crowns is that teeth can be straightened quickly—usually in two weeks or less. The crowns:

  • Improve the shape of the teeth
  • Improve the color of the teeth
  • Hold the teeth in the same position

Porcelain crowns are permanent. A retainer is not necessary for them to maintain their fine appearance. They look and feel better than natural teeth. They are more stain and calculus resistant than crooked teeth and can last a lifetime!

Porcelain Veneers

One of the benefits of porcelain veneers is that little or no tooth reduction is required to make your teeth look perfectly straight. With veneers, a wafer thin porcelain piece is bonded to the front of your teeth. 

Like porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers stain less, are smoother and can be whiter than natural teeth. Sometimes, a combination of crowns and veneers are used to get the results the patient desires.

Orthodontics (Invisalign)

Invisalign® is a tooth-straightening method that uses clear, invisible braces to move teeth. However, the patient has to be willing to undergo a 12 to 24 month treatment. It also may be necessary to indefinitely use a retainer. Otherwise, the teeth may lapse back into a crooked state.

In general, the more youthful the patient, the better the results. Since younger patients tend to have less tooth damage the immediate results can be excellent.
