Tetracycline Stains

Tetracycline Stains are permanent staining inside the tooth. Very difficult to remove, the teeth stains appear as a by-product of an effective antibiotic prescribed by doctors for many illnesses. Unfortunately, the drug's long term effects on teeth remained unknown for awhile.
Patients who took tetracycline now have to deal with a stain that gets progressively darker toward the center and below the surface of the tooth.

Tetracycline Treatment- Teeth Whitening

The patient in the photo has a "stain band" and received tetracycline treatment as a youngster. Now, her goal was to whiten her teeth and to have her teeth look healthier. Dr. Muslin selected two methods to help her achieve the look she desired:

  • Teeth Whitening- Dr. Muslin used a custom combination of teeth whitening methods on his patient. This included laser whitening procedures and bleaching.
  • Cosmetic Dentistry- Using porcelain veneers and dental bonding porcelain crowns, Dr. Muslin addressed the patient's upper teeth gaps, narrow teeth and replaced dark crowns. He also balanced the gum line symmetry and adjusted the tooth size proportions.

The patient now ended up with a full and natural looking smile makeover. She no longer has to worry about unsightly tetracycline stains. The gum reshaping and re-contouring produced a symmetrical gum line achieved in the most skilled and well-balanced cosmetic dentistry.

All of this cosmetic dental surgery was minimally invasive.
